NEWS - DEVELOPMENTS AND UPDATES Client
Testimonial Friday, September 23, 2005 - Stock Photography Program Online We have brought
the Aurora PhotoStock
program back online, with shoots booking for October. At the present
time, we're pushing Independent Modeling to get their model job board
up so we can market this program on their site. We've been told that
Independent Modeling will see heavy updates by Monday. 1. Professional models have the skills that will give us the pictures that will sell. It's really that simple, and they will automatically have what they need to book work. The fact that the models have their professional tools goes a long way to eliminating any conflict of interest, as it precludes them from our other services. 2. We've seen bait and switch scams over the years where "professionals" offer model jobs and then try to sell them pictures, portfolios, comps, runway training, or model classes. Misleading models is just wrong. In regards to us, we are very careful not to mix our modeling jobs with our portfolio development services, simply because even if the offer is innocent, the perception of wrong-doing alone undermines professional credibility. By trying to limit these jobs to professional models who already have established portfolios, we automatically eliminate most of these risks because the models are not in the market for portfolio development services. We will never tell a model who is being considered for a booking that they need portfolio development, and avoid bring up those services when we are in the context of considering or booking them for a job. 3. On the flip side, we do a lot of business in portfolio development, and we don't want to undermine this market. We don't want aspiring models trying to build the portfolios that they lack by booking work. By default, it won't happen. If you don't have the tools, you probably won't be considered. If, by rare chance, we REALLY like your look and end up booking one of those jobs as an aspiring model, you will only get the looks specified. Granted, you will get our usual professional quality images and you'll get them for use in your portfolio, but you won't have enough to make your portfolio, as a portfolio needs at least a good range of six looks or more. Just the same, if you're booked for one of our jobs and you are in need of a portfolio, we are professionally obligated to bite our tongue and avoid bringing it up or telling you about those services. If you initiate it, that's fine, but otherwise it is an ethical conflict of interest that we wish to avoid. So, why are we
so strict about these rules and why aren't we tempted to bend them?
Simply because we also know that most models like our work and chances
are that they will come back to us for portfolios long after the job
is done. That's their obligation, and if they choose to do so, that's
fine. NEXT NEWS - PREVIOUS NEWS - NEWS DIRECTORY ______________________________ |
